More windows, more spending, more bonus cash

August 29th, 2012 at 05:08 pm

I finally was able to get the window company at the house again so we could order Phase IV of V. This order will be a total of $3,797. This will be the largest bill for the windows being it includes the large picture window in the living room area. I signed up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card being they were offering $400 bonus cash after spending $3,000 in 90 days. I put the required 30% down which was $1,137 on that card. The remaining $2,660 will be placed on there when installed probably around beginning of October. This card has a yearly fee after year 1 and will be closed after we get our $400+ check!

I submitted our defensive driving certificates that we finally received in the mail to the insurance company. The 10%+ reduction should be returned to us in a couple weeks being we pay the premium in full. We won't have to renew that for another 3 years.

This Friday will be our "extra pay check" for August. I will send the $1,850 (Disney/ Universal Tickets) on our Chase Freedom card as well as the $1,137 on the Chase Sapphire Preferred card this Friday.

Hello Xtreme, nice to meet you! It is great to see someone so together financially at such a young age. We just finished replacing all the windows in our home and I visited Disneyland last Monday with my youngest daughter, SIL and just turned 4-year old granddaughter. It was too hot and too crowded. September sounds much better. I think it is great you are going and renting a home with friends. The last time I was in Disneyland 13 years ago we were with friends and it was February, my middle daughter was in a cheerleading competition and my youngest was 12! Have a great vacation and keep up the great work!

I have the very same deal with my car insurer. Do you use MetLife? Only thing i don't like is that they don't bother to tell you when you need to renew the safe driver course and so i don't usually find out until i get my semi-annual premium and the price jumps up.

Homebody, thanks for compliments! Yes, we are going Sept 20 - Oct 1, so hopefully it will be a little cooler. I get my money management skills from my mom and my grandpa (her dad).

patientsaver, we have Allstate auto and home. I believe I got something in the mail from Allstate mentioning the course was going to expire. Although, they may have just billed us for the prorated difference when the course expired, which got my attention!

That is great that your insurance company offers a percent discount for defensive driving courses! Anything that can lead to savings like that is great, especially if the discount lasts for three years. Impressive!
